CITY:
  1. SITUATION ARISES IN A CITY
    1. City Radio Officer is authorized to call its reserve, which is done.
    2. City Radio Officer alerts the county Radio Officer (or its communications coordinator) of the situation so that there is advance warning even if there is as yet no apparent need for mutual aid at that point.
    3. Situation accelerates, outside assistance required. County Radio Officer (or the County Coordinator) is contacted for assistance by the City Radio Officer (or by City Coordinator).

  2. EVENT ARISES IN OPERATIONAL AREA (county) in which City is located:
    1. City Radio Officer receives request from County Radio Officer.
    2. City Radio Officer informs the City Communications Coordinator.
    3. With approval, City Radio Officer activities needed resources in response to counties mutual aid request.
COUNTY (OPERATIONAL AREA):

  1. SITUATION ARISES IN A CITY
    1. County Radio Officer receives request from a City Radio Officer.
    2. County Radio Officer informs county coordinator. In some instances the county coordinator handles the request and informs the Radio Officer of the situation.
    3. On approval of activation or assistance the County Radio Officer either:
      1. supplies resources from county communications reserve and/or
      2. contacts cities in the county for resources.
    4. County Radio Officer informs the State OES Region Radio Officer (or Communications Coordinator) of the action taken. While this may seem unnecessary at an early stage, the same or another disaster may erupt with explosive suddenness. Having alerted the Region has proven to be a critical move early on.
    5. Situation exceeds county and its cities abilities to handle: County Radio Officer (or its communications coordinator) requests aid from State OES Region Radio Officer, Communications Coordinator or Region EOC.
County situation continues next week.
