QSL Card Number 6

10/24/2025

I found this location almost by accident. It's located along a 6% grade on Interstate 15, between San Bernardino, California and Victorville, California. As I was chugging by at 35 miles per hour, I noted that the pull-off was just big enough to get the truck off the road, and safely parked.

I kept it in the back of my mind as a location to stop if I ran out of drive/work hours in traffic, since there are not many parking areas for trucks in Southern California. We're not supposed to park on the side of the highway, either. But, when you run out of hours, Federal law states that we must stop in a safe location. This pretty much fits the bill, since it's small and allows me to get far enough from the highway to be safe (there are guardrails on both sides of the pull-off area.

I launched the drone early in the morning, which is why the picture is a bit dark. The sun wasn't up, but I wanted to catch the train climbing the grade in the background.  I may rework this card in the future with another photo of that area, showing the gradient a little better.
